Puffed Wheat CakeF

A Western Canadian desert staple. From Bonnie McBain.

Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup margarine
  • ½ cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa
  • 8 cups puffed wheat cereal

Instructions

  • Cook margarine, corn syrup, brown sugar, and cocoa over medium heat, stirring until bubbly.
  • Do not stir for 2 minutes after it starts bubbling.
  • Pour the mixture over the puffed wheat cereal.
  • Press the coated cereal into a greased 13 x 9 inch pan.
  • Let cool and cut into squares.
