Caramel DumplingsF

Caramel dumplings.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 ½ cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • ½ cup apple coarsely chopped, optional

Instructions

  • Blend butter, packed brown sugar, and water in a pan. Heat to boiling, then simmer.
  • Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, butter, vanilla, and optional chopped apple.
  • Drop dough by tablespoons into the simmering sauce.
  • Cover tightly and simmer for 20 minutes. DO NOT OPEN the lid during cooking.
  • Cook in a large frying pan with a lid.
  • Serve warm with whipping cream or ice cream.
  • Makes 6-8 servings.
