Caramel dumplings.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 ½ cup water
- 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tsp vanilla
- ½ cup apple coarsely chopped, optional

Instructions
- Blend butter, packed brown sugar, and water in a pan. Heat to boiling, then simmer.
- Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, milk, butter, vanilla, and optional chopped apple.
- Drop dough by tablespoons into the simmering sauce.
- Cover tightly and simmer for 20 minutes. DO NOT OPEN the lid during cooking.
- Cook in a large frying pan with a lid.
- Serve warm with whipping cream or ice cream.
- Makes 6-8 servings.
