Classic Dutch butter cake with almond flavor.
Ingredients
- ⅔ cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 egg (for topping)
- 1 tbsp milk (for topping)
- sliced almonds (eyeball the amount)

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8” square cake pan.
- Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add almond extract and blend in the beaten egg.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour and baking powder.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir until smooth.
- Spread dough evenly in the prepared pan.
- For the topping, beat 1 egg with 1 tbsp milk. Brush over the dough.
- Sprinkle with sliced almonds.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
